COTABATO CITY – To strengthen the public and private sector engagement, the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT)-Maguindanao in partnership with the Provincial Government of Maguindanao convened the entrepreneurs from different municipalities for the Organizational Meeting with the Business Sector in Maguindanao held last September 2, 2021 at Robinson’s Convention Center, this city.
The activity was joined by over 200 various entrepreneurs from 36 municipalities and some establishments in Cotabato City. Aside from strengthening the public and private sector engagement, the activity also served as an avenue to discuss the Ministry’s plans, programs and activities supportive of business development in the province and the role of the business sector in local economic development.
During the opening message of Romeo N. Diocolano, MTIT Maguindanao Provincial Director emphasized the reason why there are representatives from the Local Government Units – to ensure that all the municipalities are well represented.
“The Maguindanao Chamber has tremendous contribution to regional business during the ARMM. This time, considering that we are now in the BARMM government, there will be many opportunities,” Diocolano said.
Abuamri A. Taddik, MTIT Minister, said during his message, “As we now have our system of governance, we can expect for more partners, institutional donors and international partners when it comes to business.”
Former Maguindanao First District Representative to the Congress Bai Sandra Sema also expressed her support for the reorganization of the Maguindanao Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI). “Private sectors are similar to the government in terms of providing livelihood. The success of the private sectors is also the success of the government,” she said.
Atty. Saidona A. Singgon, Former President of the MCCI discussed the organizational development of the chamber and updates.
Mr. Pete Marquez, Regional Governor of the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry shared inputs regarding the role of the private sector and the chamber in the development of the local economy.
Atty. Anwar Malang, former DTI-ARMM Regional Secretary, was also present during the said activity. He also encouraged all the business sectors to support chamber. “Let us support the chamber. It will be a great step for us (entrepreneurs). Without a vehicle to unite us, it will be hard for us to reach our aspirations on business,” he said.
The activity ended with an election of the new Officers followed by actual oath taking and action planning.
