Pasay City, Philippines – The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) Pavilion bagged different awards during the 33rd Philippine Travel Mart held at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia on Sept. 30-Oct. 2, 2022.

The pavilion embodies and exemplifies the cultural assets of the region’s five provinces [including Cotabato City]—Maguindanao, Lanao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi, won the Best Booth Design Award (Regional/Provincial Category) and People’s Choice Award.

The BARMM through the Bureau of Tourism (BOT) of the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT) showcased a Pavilion that embodies “Faith Tourism” one of the cultural assets of the region.

Marites Maguindra, BOT Director said that the concept of the Pavilion is anchored on the strategic direction on the creation of BARMM which is the Preservation of Identity, Culture and Heritage.

“We want to come up with a concept and a design of a pavilion that will exemplify and embody the region’s foundation of cultural assets – Faith Tourism. Inside the booth, we will showcase our cultural products, landmarks with cultural relevance, historical sites, tangibles and intangibles”, she said.

“The awards we received implies that the region has a lot to offer. People have an increased awareness of who we are, that’s why we won the People’s Choice was given to us. It was earned by trust, by appreciation and the belief that we are truly an existing region. Distinct of any other regions”, she further stated.

The Philippine Travel Mart is the longest-running and most exciting interactive exposition of Philippine destinations organized by the Philippine Tour Operators Association (PHILTOA).
