The Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism – BARMM through the Industry Development and Investment Promotion (IDIP) Division under the Bureau of Trade and Industry (BTI) conducted Cities and Municipalities Competitiveness Index (CMCI) Program Orientation and Data Analytics for Local Government Units (LGUs) in Maguindanao Del Norte including Cotabato City last May 8, 2023 at Alnor Convention Center, Cotabato City.
Director Jo-Dann Darong from Competitiveness Bureau of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) National presented the overview and importance of the CMCI program in strengthening competitiveness and development in the LGUs he also presented the scores of some of the LGUs based on the 5 pillars of the Program: Economic Dynamism; Government Efficiency; Infrastructure; Resiliency and Innovation. Mr. Joseph Jonald Jorge Gonzaga from the DTI also gave a comprehensive walk-through to the CMCI Portal where the focal persons would do a data entries and explained the new updates on the said portal.
The CMCI, is a data driven tool that serves as the dashboard of the local chief that allows the LGU for a local comparison. This will also help the local government to compete with other performing LGUs and will be ranked accordingly to stimulate competitiveness among LGUs, based on the sum of their scores from the five (5) pillars.
Innovation, as a new pillar in the CMCI program, the ministry also invited Mr. Ralph Jarvis h. Alindogan, Director IV of the Documentation, Information, Technology Transfer Bureau of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines (IPOPHL) to discuss their officeโs programs and services in support to the LGUs in advancing their scores on the said pillar.
The activity was attended by nearly 70 participants who are department heads and focal persons of different LGUs in the province and city. Dr. Tumanda Antok Representative from the of Office Provincial Governor, Hon. Abdulraof Macacua was also present and delivered a message for the participants of the said activity
