𝗕𝗢𝗜 𝗵𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀 𝗦𝗲𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽 𝗼𝗻 𝗜𝗻𝘃𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗮𝗹𝘀
September 20, 2023 – Basilan Province witnessed a significant step towards economic development as the Bureau of Investments (BOI) of the Ministry of Trade, Investments and Tourism (MTIT) and the Provincial Government of Basilan conducted a Seminar Workshop on the Development of Investment Proposals for Local Government Units (LGUs) and members of the private sector at the Kasinnahan Hotel & Resort in Isabela City, Basilan. This event was supported by The Asia Foundation (TAF) and USAID.
BOI Director Shamera A. Abobakar, presented an insightful overview of the BARMM Investment Situationer, introducing the “Invest sa Bangsamoro” Campaign and the 2022 SIPP Strategic Investment Priority Plan.
Notably, Basilan received recognition as the top-rated province in the region based on ratings from Mindanao Trust, Respect, Safety, and Satisfaction Survey of the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDa). Director Abobakar also shed light on BARMM’s 12-point priority agenda and highlighted Basilan’s investment advantages.
The event featured esteemed resource persons from TAF, Consultant Mohammad Taha S. Basman II, who emphasized the significance of Investment Proposal Writing, clear communication, project management, strategic planning, and partnership building and Engr. Addie T. Unsi, The Civil Society Strengthening Specialist, discussed the crucial aspects of workshop outputs.
Participants from various LGUs displayed their enthusiasm by showcasing their investment proposal projects, applying the knowledge gained from the workshop. Their efforts were met with expert comments, recommendations, and acknowledgment from Director Abobakar, MTIT Basilan Provincial Director Argie Sarco, and the event’s resource persons.
These investment proposals hold substantial promise for Basilan’s economic landscape and will undergo thorough review by the MTIT-BOI.
The event seeks to foster the entry of new investments in the region. By equipping LGUs and the private sector with the tools to craft compelling investment proposals, this initiative aims to attract potential investors to choose Bangsamoro as their preferred investment destination.
